NFL (BLACK MONDAY)

In the NFL, monday December 30th was the day that all organizations dreaded, whether you were the owner of the team who had to make the decision to keep your coach or fire your coach or "front office" or you were on the other side, as a coach scared of the unknown of not having a job for the next NFL season. The first coach firing that began Black Monday  was after the team went 4-12 this season. The team stuggled throughout the season a tremendous bit as owner Jim Haslem had to change the direction the team was headed as he fired him Sunday. The second coach firing was with the Detriot Lions. After five years and six seasons with the Lions organization Jim Schwartz was fired monday after the 7-9 season. The organization over the past two years in particular were worried of the direction the organization was headed. The lions President expressed Monday that "The simple fact is we have fallen short of the expectations of our ownership, and those expectations are simple," Lewand said. The third coach firing that took place on Black Monday was the firing of head coach Mike Shanahan of the Washington Redskins. The redskins had a unbelievable season in 2012 as they would make the playoffs. The redskins coach Shanahan during the playoff run would face alot of criticism as he would keep Redskins quarter back Robert Griffin in the game while he battled a knee injury. After last seasons great success the redskins had high expectations for the 2013 season but once falling short of those goals the redskins knew it was time for some changes. The redskins future is currently in the air, as to the organization has disclosed any possible candidates for the new head coaching job in Washington. The fourth coach fired on black monday was Minnesota Viking head coach Leslie Frazier after the team went 5-10-1 for the 2013 season. The vikings in the 2012 season went 10-6 to make the playoffs and were caught off guard when the team went 5-10-1 this past season. In a statement by the team owner on monday he said  "He stepped in and established a strong positive culture here, and he has been the consummate professional as our head coach and in this community." As far as the future of the viking organization , they have possible coaches Jack Del Rio former Vikings linebacker as a possible head coaching fit for the organization. Also Adam Gase is a possible fit for  the head coaching job in Minnesota. The final coach out on Black monday was Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schinano. The Buccaneers fired Schinano after the teams 3rd straight losing season. Possible coaches that are being considered are former bears coach Lovie Smith and former coach Gary Kubiak. In a statement monday Buccaneers co- chairman  had some regards "The results over the past two years have not lived up to our standards and we believe the time has come to find a new direction."
