NCAA MARCH MADNESS

March Madness, rounds one , two , and three are officially in the books and Thursday night will begin the next set of cuts,as NCAA final Four finalist will be determined Monday and the title game on Tuesday. As we edge closer and closer to tip off Thursday and the fourth round and as the Sweet Sixteen face off. The nail biting games began in first and second rounds and continued to the third round. We saw a new meaning to the "year of the Freshman"; some teams scored while others were a huge disappointment and were buzzer beaters. The first shocking upset of the tournament began with the young team out of Duke University. Duke University had the reputation of the basketball city of the country, until Thursday, when they would take a lost to the Mercer Bulldogs in round two of the tournament. The blue devils would take the lost by a score of 78-71.  The young talented duke roster could not with hold their first tournament game. The term " the year of the freshman"  had slowly been suffocated after the blue devils elimination, after their first game of the tournament. Bringing back into question, is it really the year of the freshman? We would see this term brought back into play as the Kentucky Wildcats would take on the Wichita State Shockers.  The Kentucky wildcats were the clear under dog in this game, as they would be the number eight seed in the Midwest region. They would also have five starters that were freshman. The Wichita State Shockers were anything but inexperienced. They were the number 1 seed in the Midwest bracket and the number 2 seed in the entire tournament to win the entire thing. The shockers unlike the wild cats were anything but inexperienced as they would be a team full of talent as they would know what it felt like to make it to the final four because there accomplishments last season. Their roster would show it as well, as they wouldn't have any freshman starters. The Wildcats would stun the entire country as they would be down in the middle of the first half 17-4, but would make a run toward the end, being down by only six at end of the half. Second half they would pull a stunner, as they would our score the shockers 47-39 in the second half with a score of 78-76, to take the win and would move on to the SWEET SIXTEEN. The year of the freshman would be revamped and put back into context, as this Kentucky would put them selves back on the radar, that yes they are a young and inexperienced team but they know how to win.
