NBA UPDATES

The NBA this past week has been relatively quite. Seven time NBA All Star Tracy McGrady retired from the NBA after 16 seasons in the league on Monday. "It's been 16 years playing the game I love. I've had a great run, but its time for it to come to an end," McGrady expressed on Monday. McGrady this past season signed to the San Antonio Spurs for a 1 year deal. World Championships Updates (Last Days) Part 2

On the final days of competition at the World Championships we witnessed the most anticipated races of the whole Championships, the men's and women's 4 by 100 and 4 by 400. In the 4 by 100 for the women, there were a lot of great teams in the field. The United States had , had there share of problems, because of Allyson Felix going down to a hamstring injury in the 200m, and it showed during the 4 by100. Jamaica would win in a very commanding fashion taking 1st place in the 4 by 100 final with a time of 41.29. On the men's side of things Jamaica's Usian Bolt was the star of the event. The field was loaded with great teams such as the United States, Jamaica, and Canada. The Canadians lost there medal last summer , and they were determined this summer to make sure they won a medal. Usian Bolt came out very strong for Jamaica anchoring there relay along with America's Justin Gatlin. Bolt would lead the Jamaicans to a gold medal with a time of 37.36. The United States would win the silver and the Canadians would finally win there fifth medal in the event ever getting the bronze with the times of 37.66 and 37.92. On the 4 by 400 side of things the United States had a completely different story when it came to the men.  The United States dominated from beginning to end of the race. Jamaica would win the silver with a time of 2:59.88 and Russia would win the bronze with a time of 2:59.90. On the women's side of things, the results weren't what anyone expected. The field was loaded with a lot of talent, with Russia and Jamaica, the United States new that it was going to be a tough battle. Through the first two legs of the race the United States led very commandingly, but would slowly fall down hill and they would receive the silver with a time of 3:20.41 to Russia who would win the gold with a time of 3:20.19, and Great Britain would win the bronze with a time of 3:22.61.

NBA off season Updates and News

These past few weeks in the NBA have been very quite, as most off seasons are, but a few teams are  still trying to make there last minute trades before the preseason begins in September. The Dallas Mavericks this past week were told by there new starting guard Monta Ellis that he doesn't want to have to "carry the team on his back", and would like another super star guard to assist with the duties. Ellis explained that this was one of the reasons why his 3 point shooting percentage progressively decreased with the Golden State warriors and  Milwaukee bucks. Later  in the week the Mavericks signed another guard that could help Ellis in the back court and with facilitating Jose Calderon. Calderon said Thursday "Maybe not going to be fancy passes for me, Just effective." We will see this coming  up season if Ellis's numbers will go up because of his new assistance that will be receieved  receiving. On Thursday we also saw some more trades that took place. The Boston Celtics on Thursday traded First round draft pick Fab Melo and cash to the Mempis Grizzlies Thursday for a non guaranteed contract for Donte Greene. Greene will be headed to the Grizzlies for a 1 million dollar contract. Melo was traded to the Grizzlies because of the Celtics being over the cap by $700,000. Melo was expected to make 1.3 million this year but because of the cap space he had to be traded. We will see this coming  up season if this will hurt the Celtics or not.

NBA OFF SEASON UPDATES

This past off season has been a interesting one in the NBA,  from the trades to the free agency. This past week has been a roll coaster as well for a few teams in the NBA. Even though it is the offseaon, some players still find themselves getting season suspensions. Portland Trail Blazers guard Terrel Harris was suspended Monday after repeated failed drug test, and violating the leagues policy. Harris will be suspended 5 games for his actions. The game suspensions will take place at the beginning of the regular season. Also there are a few free agency updates. Point guard Mo William signed a two year deal with the Portland Trail Blazer Thursday. Mo's deal is worth approximately $5.6 million and includes the players option in year two. The trail blazers have had there share of point guard problems in the past few years, but now we will see what Williams can bring to this young Poland team.

nfl training camp final days

The beginning of the 2013-2014  preseason began Sunday, with the NFL HALL OF FAME GAME, but training camps for all teams resumed Monday. All teams were getting prepartions ready for the preseason, that would begin on Thursday. Some questions that we have had over the starting quarter backs for this pre season have been answered, starting with Jacksonville Jaguars. Jaguars have had there questions at starting quarter back since last season, and with drafting a quarterback this past season, it raised even more questions, "Are the jaguars getting rid of Blaine Gabbert"? That question was answered Thursday at Jaguars practice. "I think that he's really shown a lot of poise," Jaguars coach expressed to reporters Thursday. "I think he handles situations that have been presented to him in practice. They both have done some really good things, both have made some really good progress. No, and I hope they would both answer it the same way. We just felt like with Blaine, with what he's done the last couple of days in practice and how he's responded, we decided to give him the nod." So there isn't a clear decision as to who Coach Bradley will have out on the field in week 1 of the regular season. Another team that the decision hasn't been made on the starting quarterback is for the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles Head coach Chip Kelly announced Thursday that Michael Vick will be the starter for the Eagles in there first preseason game against the New England Patriots Friday night. Kelly feels that Vick should be the first quarter back in the rotation. After Vick was told he was the starting quarterback he immediately didn't agree with the decision ."I can't read into it ." We will see Sunday what the quarter back will produce out on the field, and if he still will hold the starting quarterback position in Philadelphia. The preseason for all teams begins Thursday(08/08/13) , with games Thursday through Sunday so tune in !

NFL UPDATES (Training camp, injuries, Pre-season etc.)

Sunday night officially marked the beginning of 2013-2014  NFL football season, with the Hall of Fame Game Sunday night. Every team knew that this week was the week that every team would be able to show there talents and weaknesses to the world. The Top injury report updates for Monday , would be from the Green Bay Packers Facilities. Last season we heard a lot about the Green Bay Packers and the high expectations that were put on them because of there previous success in the past few years, but Monday we would find out the offensive tackle Bryan Bulga would tare his ACL during training camp Saturday. Its very unclear as to how the offensive line man got injured Saturday but now there are a lot of big questions in Milwaukee right now because of the injury. There have been a lot of names that have been thrown around for the position, but multiple sources speculate that it will be Newhouse. Newhouse took over veteran Chad Cliftons spot during the 2011 season. We should know later on this week who would be taking the left offensive tackle's position. Also in Green Bay there is big news surrounding quarter back Vince Young's return to the league. Sources say that Green Bay Packers staff and personal were surprised and impressed with the quarter back ability after practices Monday. Also Monday the quarter back signed a one year deal with the packers, even though the contract isn't guaranteed. Young isn't on the team yet, he will have to compete for the back up quarter back job later on in the week against 2012-2013 packers back up Graham Harrell. We should see in the coming days if he is on the team or not. Also on Monday we learned about the hand surgery of Patrick Willis and what this will mean for the 49ers 6 time pro bowler. Willis had surgery Monday to repair a fractured right hand. Willis reportedly fractured the hand while working against full back Bruce Miller. The 49ers expect him to be back no later than the September 8th game which means he will miss weeks 1 and 2 of the regular season.

NFL HALL OF FAME GAME

Sunday night we witness the annual Hall of Fame game played between the MIAMI DOLPHINS and DALLAS COWBOYS. Both teams came into this game with uncertainties on the season and on and off of the field. The following drive for the dolphins would result in a interception, that would lead to a  touch down by Devonte Holloman getting a 75 yard return, and Dan Bailey making the extra point. The next drive by the dolphins would be successful and by the end of the second quarter the dolphins would only be down by 14. In the third quarter both teams would not have a success ful drive. The Hall of Fame has over 120 members, and tonight, marked the 50th ceremony for the induction. Among the inductees were Cris Carter, Warren Sapp, Jonathan Ogden, Dave Robinson, Larry Allen, Bill Parcells, and Curley Culp. Carter was especially excited about tonight because he had been waiting so long for the moment to be inducted into the hall of fame. "I appreciate the process you have to go through to get to be a hall of famer," Carter expressed Saturday.  Parcells also expressed his excitement for being inducted into the Hall of fame. "There's a kinship created that lasts for the rest of your life." Parcells spoke about Saturday. NFL TRAINING CAMP DAY 9

Saturday,  was a very hard day for a lot of the teams in the NFL. Injury struck numerous teams on Saturday at day number 9 of training camp. The Buffalo Bills were having there share of hurt, when Kevin Kolb went down at training camp on Saturday. Kolb this season at training camp was competing with rookie quarterback EJ Manuel Saturday for the starting quarterback job for the Buffalo Bills, when he injured his left knee. Reportedly Kolb landed wrong when he slipped and stumbled awkwardly while changing fields between practice drills. Coach Marrone told reporters Saturday he doesn't think that the injury will be detrimental to the team, but he will keep a close eye on the situation. Also on Saturday Coach Marrone gave a update on starting Bills receiver Stevie Johnson, saying the receiver should be able to go, in week two of the preseason, because of a pulled hamstring. Also on Saturday we learned of the struggles that are still lingering with the New York Jets this season. The jets have had there share of problems in the past two years, from Mark Sanchez not living up to his full potential and the offensive line being blamed for the teams struggles offensively  this past season. On Saturday the Jets had there annual Green and White scrimmage, and things didn't go as planned. Mark Sanchez through a interception pass to Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, after the pass was intercepted, there was a huge "booo" in the crowd, and Antonio gave his thoughts on the crowds reaction saturday after the game. "I think that's bull crap." Sanchez was 6 for 11 with 93 yards on the scrimmage on saturday. Smith completed 9 of 16 passes for 77 yards. The team is hopeing these injuries will be taken care of before, the first regular season game. Along with injuries this past week there have been various suspensions, starting with Baltimore Ravens starting corner back Asa Jackson. Jackson violated the leagues policy on performance- enhancing substances. Jackson will miss the first 8 games of the Ravens Regular season, because of the violation, and will also have no pay. John Harbaugh, Ravens Head Coach expressed his thoughts on the suspension Friday. "My reaction to that is that you've got to follow the rules, If you don't follow the rules you get suspended. That's a fair rule, there's no place for that, and he's getting what he deserves," Harbough said after practice Friday. We also have a update on the status of Tony Romo for the Hall of Fame Game and the Kick off  to the NFL pre season. Tony Romo explained to reporters Friday, that it might not be in the best interest for the team to let him play this weekend in the pre season opener. NFL TRAINING CAMP DAYS 6 and 7

This past week has been very adventurous to say the least at NFL teams training camps. From the large crowds lining up around 4 and 5 am to the players giving a outstanding performance for the fans, over all this has been one of the most memorable training camps in NFL history. The past few days haven't been all joys for every team.  The Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams was examined tuesday on a left foot injury. Williams reportedly returned back to practice Wednesday, with no injuries, but he still had soreness in the foot he told reporters wednesday "I can't discuss anything regarding being sore or bruises, aches, or anything like that. " We will see in the coming weeks as we get closer to the season opener,  if this is a serious detrimental injury or not. Also on Thursday we heard of the long road Percy Harvin of the Seattle Seahawks will face as he makes a long recovery, from his hip surgery Thursday. Coach Carroll told reporters Thursday, that the surgery went as planned and that the team doesn't have a exact time as to when Harvin will return. After practice Thursday 49 ers head coach Jim Harbaugh expressed to reporters that now this is someone elses opportunity to step up and show what they can bring to the team. "What it means right now is there are some guys getting an opportunity to show what they can do, which is a positive there. "
