What will happen to Michael Sam's NFL expectations and career?

Michael Sam, the only openly gay football player, was released Saturday as the St.Louis Rams made final cuts for their 53 man roster, to begin the regular season. Michael Sam had already made history as he was the only openly gay player drafted by a NFL team. He then made it into the books again, as he was the first NFL openly gay player to be cut.  Last week Sam seemed as if he had positioned him self to make the Rams final roster, but the team had different views. Now what will happen to Michael Sam?  Coach Fisher had remarks to add Saturday, " I will tell you this: I was pulling for Mike, I really was, And I don't say that often, Mike came in here and did everything we asked him to do." Michael Sam has made his mark in the NFL without, playing in a NFL regular season game. What is next for runner up SEC defensive player of the year? Saturday the view of Sam being moved to the Rams practice squad was another possibility. But will he be picked up by another NFL team by the start of the regular season?  I guess we will just find out. (NFL regular season begins this thursday September 4th)

Michael Sam

Michael Sam has raised various questions over  the past few months, about his college and short NFL career. Often being judged about personal sexuality decisions.  Leaving fans wanting to know what will happen to this former NCAA defensive player of the year. Will his game be able to transfer to the "big leagues" or will he be just another gay man that we look down upon in society? We often judge, not giving full respect to individuals similar to that of Michael Sam, believing that he does not have the same capabiities as a straight male.  Tuesday, Sam made the 1 st round of team cuts , getting on the 75 man roster, but the struggle will come in the next week as the team makes its final cuts to get down to a 52 man roster. Difficult, as this may seem Sam has positioned him self as a top contender for one of the final spots, as he has had a excellent pre season thus far. Following Tuesday's decision, it will be shown in the coming days what will happen to Sam and this St. Louis Rams organization.

Other key players were New Orleans Pelicans center, Anthony Davis.  The team would win 95-78. Team USA sights are now turned to the Dominican Republic team, who they will take on , wednesday, August 20th.

Team USA

Kevin Durant stated wednesday that he will no longer be competing in the FIBA World Cup. The Oklahoma City thunder star forward ,stated that he is physically and mentally drained from the NBA regular and post season and is getting ready for the start to the NBA season. "After going through training camp with USAB, I realized I could not fulfill my responsibilities to the team from both a time and energy standpoint. I need to take a step back and take some time away, both mentally and physically in order to prepare for the upcoming NBA season." Durant released this statement on thursday, after following up with his decision not to compete in this years FIBA World Cup.  This is the first time that Durant has ever admitted to being tired. The only other instance in which Durant admitted to being tired was when he had made statements of being tired of being second to Lebron James after the 2013 season MVP was announced. Is this a sign that Durant exalted all of his energy in the "tank" this season to be crowned 2014 season MVP. But should this be a concerning issue for the Oklahoma City thunder? Or a bigger question, will this exhaustion of the MVP , be transferred over in a two months (October) when he will be expected to lead his team to a NBA finals for the 2014-2015 season?  His remarks thursday say other wise as his reason for quitting the tournament , it to get rested for  a deep run during the NBA season/postseason. The expectations are high for this Thunder team but will their leader be dead weight?

Friendly Competition takes a Detremental turn for the Worst....

As a typical Friday approaches during the NBA 2014 off season the USA team is taking their final practice before a Friday night broad casted national scrimmage. This exhibition game was a little taste of friendly competition as typical competitors of opposite teams come together to represent one unit , one country. After three full quarters of play in Las Vegas, Nevada things seemed on Friday evening to be full filling its true purpose,  a taste of competition  following the closing of the NBA season. As the game progressed, it seemed to be running smoothly in the fourth quarter, until things took an unexpected turn for the worst. As forward of white team U.S.A James Harden ran his routine drive to the basket, forward of team blue Paul George came in to defind this play. Following the play George was down and was expected from the looks of things to be able to bounce right back up as he did in practice. George did not "bounce right back up", as he layed on the floor vieing for metics attention. After replay was shown of the play, the injury that George suffered was similar to that of Louisville cardinals guard Kevin Ware in the 2013-2014 final four tournament. Team USA was in disbelief after hearing the news from the sideline as players were brought to tears after seeing one of their own brothers go down in something similar to a practice. A game that was preparing them for the coming weeks. Saturday it was reported that George is expected to be ok, but after emergency surgery Friday evening his has a long rode ahead of him. The Indiana Pacers president, Larry Bird, also came out with a statement Friday evening "We are aware of the injury sustained by Paul George in Friday night's Team USA game in Las Vegas and we are obviously greatly concerned". George is out for the remainder of team USA run in the international tournament, but will he be ready for the NBA season or be able to play at all in the 2014-2015 season? This uncertainty is now a great concern for not just team USA , but the NBA and the Indiana Pacers organization.
