Team USA

Kevin Durant stated wednesday that he will no longer be competing in the FIBA World Cup. The Oklahoma City thunder star forward ,stated that he is physically and mentally drained from the NBA regular and post season and is getting ready for the start to the NBA season. "After going through training camp with USAB, I realized I could not fulfill my responsibilities to the team from both a time and energy standpoint. I need to take a step back and take some time away, both mentally and physically in order to prepare for the upcoming NBA season." Durant released this statement on thursday, after following up with his decision not to compete in this years FIBA World Cup.  This is the first time that Durant has ever admitted to being tired. The only other instance in which Durant admitted to being tired was when he had made statements of being tired of being second to Lebron James after the 2013 season MVP was announced. Is this a sign that Durant exalted all of his energy in the "tank" this season to be crowned 2014 season MVP. But should this be a concerning issue for the Oklahoma City thunder? Or a bigger question, will this exhaustion of the MVP , be transferred over in a two months (October) when he will be expected to lead his team to a NBA finals for the 2014-2015 season?  His remarks thursday say other wise as his reason for quitting the tournament , it to get rested for  a deep run during the NBA season/postseason. The expectations are high for this Thunder team but will their leader be dead weight?
