NBA DRAFT 2013

Last night was another very exciting night in the NBA. It wasn't a championship being announced or a MVP trophy being given away, but it was the steps being made toward the future of these awards and to the future of the NBA. Last night we got to see the 2013 NBA DRAFT. The first round was very exciting and had a lot of surprises starting off with the number 1 pick in the draft Anthony Bennett who attended the University of Las Vegas. This was a very shocking pick in the draft, but a lot of people were not shocked by the pick as well, because this draft was believed to be one of the worst drafts in NBA history. Either way Anthony Bennett was the number one pick and he was going to be a Cleveland Cavalier. The prospect that was believed to be the number one player in the draft was Nerlans Noel and he would be chosen as the number 6 over all pick and would be going to the Pelicans, but would soon be traded to the 76 ers. Some other top names in the draft would be Michigan guard Trey Burke who would be drafted number nine over all to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but would be traded to the Utah Jazz. Other big head lining players were Ben McLemore of Kansas who would be drafted 7 over all and would be going to the Sacramento Kings. Another big name in the draft was Syracuse guard Michael Carter-Williams, who would be drafted 11th overall and would be going to the 76 ers.
In this draft there were also a lot of trades.
  • Trey Burke ( ninth overall pick) would be traded to the Utah Jazz from the Minnesota Timber wolves for players ; Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng.
  • Nerlens Noel ( sixth overall pick) and a 2014 prospect would be traded to the 76ers from the New Orleans Pelicans for Jrue Holiday.
  • Kelly Olynyk (13th overall pick) and Gonzaga would be traded to the Celtics from the Mavericks for a 1 st round draft pick and Lucas Nogueira.(These were the top trades of the draft.)
