NCAA TOURNAMENT (WOMEN'S)

The First game of the afternoon were the LOUISVILLIE CARDINALS vs CALIFORNIA GOLDEN BEARS. The Cardinals came into this game just a week ago, beating the over all number one seed in the tournament the Baylor lady Bears, so this game was very big game for the Lady Cardinals. The Cardinals came into the tournament a number 5 seed. The Cardinals record coming into this game was 28-8. The Golden Bears came into this game a number 2 seed on there end of the bracket. The Golden Bears record coming into this game was 32-3. First half the Golden Bears would get out to a very strong lead out scoring the Cardinals in the first half 37-27.Second half the tables would turn, the Cardinals would out score the Golden Bears by over 17 points, and the cardinals would out score the Golden Bears in the second half 37-20. Leading scorers for the Cardinals were Slaughter 18 points, Smith 6 rebounds, and Schimmel with 6 ast. Leading scorers for the Golden Bears were Clarendon with 17 points, and Boyd with 3 ast. The Cardinals would go on to pull another upset 64-57, advancing to the NCAA Final.

The Second match-up of the evening was one of the biggest rivalries in women's college basketball the NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH  vs CONNECTICUT HUSKIES. The Fighting Irish came into this game as a number 1 seed on there end of the bracket, and since the Number 1 seed overall Baylor was knocked out of the tournament, they were the next team in line picked to win the tournament. The Fighting Irish came into this game with a record of 35-1. The Huskies came into this game as number 1 seed as well on there end of the bracket. The Huskies came into this game losing to the Irish, in three other meetings during the season, so this game was a very important win. The Huskies came into this game with a record of 39-29. First half the Huskies came out and dominating Fighting Irish out scoring them 39-29. Second half the Fighting Irish would struggle again and the Huskies would out score them again 44-36. Leading scorers for the Huskies were Stewart with 29 points, Tuck with 7 rebounds, and Faris with 6 ast. Leading scorers for the Fighting Irish were McBride with 16 points, Braker with 9 rebounds, and Diggins with 8 ast. The Huskies would prove that they could beat the Fighting Irish , going on to beat them 83-65, advancing to the NCAA Final.
