NCAA TOURNAMENT (Men's)


Tonight's first key match-up in the NCAA tournament were the KANSAS JAYHAWKS vs MICHIGAN WOLVERINES. The Jayhawks came into the tournament as a number one seed. The Jayhawks record coming into this game was 31-5. The Wolverines came into this game as a number four seed. The Wolverines came into this game with a record of 28-7. First half the Jayhawks got out to a commanding lead and out scoring the Wolverines in the first half 40-34. Second half the Wolverines would fight back, and would out score the Jayhawks in the second half 42-36, sending the game into over time. In over time the Wolverines would push through, and would out score the Jayhawks 11-9 in over time. Leading scorers for the Jayhawks were Ben McLemore 20 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 ast. , Jeff Withey 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 ast., and Naadir Tharpe with 2 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 ast. Leading scorers for the Wolverines were Mitch McGray with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 1 ast and Trey Burke 23 points, 2 rebounds, and 10 ast. The Wolverines would go on to pull the upset beating number one seed Kansas 87-85 advancing to the Elite 8.

Tonight's second match-up of the evening were FLORIDA GULF COAST EAGLES vs FLORIDA GATORS. The Florida Gators came into the tournament as number three seed. The Gators came into this game with a record of 28-7. The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles came into the tournament as a number 15 seed. The Eagles came into this game with a record of 26-10. First half, the Eagles got out to a very commanding lead, out scoring the Gators in the first few minutes by almost 11 points, but by the end of the quarter the Gators had found a rhythm and a way to catch back up. The Gators would go on to out score the Eagles in the first half 30-26. Second half the Gators would find there rhythm and continue there domination over the Eagles out scoring them in the second half 32-24. Leading scorers for the Eagles were Sherwood Brown 14 points and 6 rebounds and Brett Comer with 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 7 ast. Leading scorers for the Gators were Mike Rosario 15 points, 5 rebounds , and 1 ast and Scottie Wilbekin 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 ast. The Gators would go on to win it 62-50 advancing the the elite 8.
