MLB THURSDAY

Tonight's first key match-up of the evening were the SAN DIEGO PADRES vs CHICAGO CUBS. The padres came into this game with a record of 10-17. The cubs came into this game 11-16. The first through sixth inning both teams would come up empty. Seventh inning the padres would come up short, but the cubs would get a big time hit. Hairston would hit a home run to left field, knocking runs in for him and Castillo making the game 2-0. Eighth inning the padres would fight back. Alonso would hit a single to right helping Guzman get a run in. Blanks, Alonso, and Denorfia would also get big time runs in or the padres later in the inning, making the score 4-2. Ninth inning both teams would come up short, both scoring zero runs. The padres would go on to win it 4-2.

Tonight's second key match-up of the evening were the MIAMI MARLINS vs PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES. The marlins came into this game with a record of 8-20. The phillies came into this game with a record of 12-16. First inning the phillies would come up empty, but the marlins would come up big. Polanco would hit a ground ball to first , knocking in Pierre, making the score 1-0 at the end of the first. Second inning the phillies would fight back with Brown scoring a huge home run for the phillies, the marlins would come up short in the second scoring zero runs, making the score 1-1.Third inning both teams would come up empty. Fourth inning the marlins would come up  empty, but the phillies Howard would hit a huge home run to left field , making the score 2-1. Fifth inning the marlins would come up empty, but the phillies would get some big time hits/runs. Utley would hit a fly  to right field , helping Kratz make a run and score. Later in the inning Rollins would score for the phillies making the score 4-1. Sixth inning the phillies would come up empty, but the marlins made a run, to try to catch up, Ruggiano of the marlins hit a home run to right field making the score 4-2. Seventh inning both teams would come up empty. Eighth inning the marlins would come up short, but the phillies would make a few runs. Brown would hit a single to right helping Howard make a run, Nix would score and Brown would score off of a single by Kratz to left field. Neither team would score in the ninth. Phillies would go on to win it 7-2.
