NBA SUNDAY

Today, the Western Conference NBA finals began. At the beginning of the season everyone imagined, that the NBA Finals would have the same contenders as the 2011-2012 season, but injury had struck a very dominate team. The Thunder, had lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in the semi final round of the Western Conference, finals. But now we look to the present time, and who is actually in the Western Conference finals. Today Game 1 of the Western Conference, finals was played by the two contenders SAN ANTONIO SPURS vs MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES . The Spurs came into this game dominating there first series of the Playoffs against the Los Angeles lakers, but when they reached the semi final round  of the Western Conference Finals and they ran into a few bumps in the road, when they played the Golden State Warriors. It was a very hard fought series, but the spurs would prevail, to put them where they are now, in the Western Conference, finals. The grizzlies had a very different road to the Western Conference finals. There first series of the playoffs, they had lost the first two games of the series, and knew that if they wanted to get to the NBA finals, they would have to beat there opponent , the Los Angeles Clippers. The grizzlies would have a very physical series, but would prevail. The next round of the playoffs the grizzlies would face the Oklahoma City thunder, who had won the Western Conference, last season and who had went to the finals. This thunder team had lost the first game of the series, but would come back with a vengeance and would win the next four to close out the series, and put them in the Western Conference Finals. The first quarter of the Western Conference finals the grizzlies would come out very slow and would have a very hard time scoring, but the spurs would take full advantage of that, making 7 out of 8 of there first shots, out scoring the grizzlies in the first 31-14. Second quarter the grizzlies would fight back, to cut into some of the deficit, out scoring the spurs in the second 23-20. Second half the spurs would continue to out score the grizzlies, out scoring them in the third 22-20. Fourth quarter the spurs would stretch the lead , and would out score the grizzlies in the fourth 32-26. Leading scorers for the spurs were Tony Parker with 20 points, 1 rebounds, and 9 ast. and Tim Duncan with 6 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 ast. Leading scorers for the grizzlies were Quincy Pondexter with 17 points and 1 rebounds, and Marc Gasol with 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 ast. Tonight was a unfamiliar place for the grizzlies, because in there last two series, they were down in the first few games, and battled back later on in the series, to win , but today the spurs we prevail, going on to win it 105-83, to give them a 1-0 lead in this series.
